Wounds need a moist environment to heal effectively, and moderate exudate plays an important role in the healing process. However, excessive wound fluid can slow healing, damage surrounding skin, and increase the risk of complications.
Superabsorber dressings are designed to manage high levels of exudate by absorbing excess moisture and helping to trap bacteria. This supports skin integrity and creates an optimal environment for healing.
ConvaMax™ Superabsorber dressings are specifically developed for highly exuding wounds, combining strong absorbency with softness and flexibility. Even under compression, the dressing absorbs and locks away excess fluid and bacteria to help protect the wound and surrounding skin.
Key Benefits of ConvaMax™
High Absorption Capacity
ConvaMax™ absorbs large amounts of exudate into its superabsorbent polymer (SAP) core, helping to protect both the wound bed and surrounding skin from excessive moisture.
Strong Fluid and Bacteria Retention
Once absorbed, fluid is securely retained within the SAP core to help prevent leakage back onto the wound, dressings, or clothing.
Protease Management
ConvaMax™ has been shown in laboratory testing to absorb and bind excess matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), helping support a healthier wound environment.
Soft and Flexible Design
The dressing is gentle on the skin, easy to apply and remove, and designed for patient comfort. Its protective backing helps prevent strike-through while maintaining flexibility and conformability.
Supports Efficient Wound Care
Effective exudate management can help extend dressing wear time, reduce waste, and support healing outcomes.
Options for Different Wound Needs
ConvaMax™ is available in a variety of sizes and in both adhesive and non-adhesive formats to suit different wound types and care protocols.
Additional Protection
ConvaMax™ may be used as either a primary or secondary dressing. When needed, it can also be combined with a Hydrofiber® dressing such as AQUACEL® EXTRA™, allowing exudate to pass through and be absorbed while maintaining an advanced wound contact layer.
When ConvaMax™ Is Most Suitable
ConvaMax™ is ideal for wounds with high levels of exudate where there is a risk of skin damage. Both silicone adhesive and non-adhesive versions are available to support different clinical needs.
Silicone Adhesive Version
Suitable for:
-
Shallow wounds that do not require an additional primary dressing, such as shallow venous leg ulcers
-
Fragile or delicate peri-wound skin prone to tearing
-
Weeping oedema where dressings may otherwise adhere to the skin
Non-Adhesive Version
Suitable for:
-
Deeper wounds requiring a primary dressing, such as diabetic foot ulcers
-
Tunnelling or sinus wounds with heavy exudate
-
Macerated peri-wound skin where rapid absorption is needed
