Smart relief. A urinary tract infection such as cystitis is usually caused by bacteria entering the bladder from the bowel. The resulting symptoms - including that burning, stinging sensation when urinating - can be frustrating and painful. Ural® Cranberry works in two ways: its alkaline base helps to neutralise acidic urine in the bladder, giving relief to mild UTI symptoms within hours, while cranberry extract helps to support a healthier urinary tract and ward off further infection.

How it works:
With real cranberry extract, this pleasant effervescent drink not only helps to relieve the burning sensations associated with cystitis, it also helps to promote a healthy urinary tract.

Ingredients:
Each sachet contains sodium bicarbonate, tartaric acid, citric acid anhydrous, sodium citrate anhydrous. Also contains saccharin.

Directions:
Dissolve 1-2 sachets in a glass of cold water. Take up to 4 times daily. Do not use for more than five days without consulting your doctor. See your doctor if irritation persists after 48 hours or if there is blood in your urine.

Warnings
See your doctor if pain or irritation persists for more than 48 hours or if you notice blood in your urine. Do not give to children aged younger than 12 without medical advice. Check with a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are taking other medicines or if you have kidney problems, heart problems or high blood pressure. Those on a low-salt diet should note that each sachet contains 644mg of sodium.

Do cranberries really help treat urinary tract infections?
Cranberry is not a treatment in itself for urinary tract infections – often, antibiotics may be needed. Instead, research suggests that cranberry’s power lies in promoting a healthier urinary tract. By helping to stop bacteria from attaching to cells that line the bladder, it may help reduce the risk of further infections.

How did I get this urinary tract infection?
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common and usually occur as a result of bacteria from the bowel transferring to the bladder. Women are particularly prone to UTIs as the urethra (the final exit point from the bladder) is only about four centimetres long, meaning micro-organisms have only a short journey to reach the bladder. UTIs can result from sexual activity, changes in hormone levels including pregnancy and hormone replacement therapy, genetics, certain medical conditions and changes in diet. Diabetics are also more prone to developing UTIs.

Is there anything else I can do to improve my symptoms?
Drink plenty of water – this will help flush the bacteria from your bladder. Urinate soon after sex. Keep the genital area clean, particularly before having sex. Avoid acidic foods such as citrus fruits, spicy dishes, caffeine and alcohol.

How soon should I get relief from Ural® Cranberry?
Ural® Cranberry should help alleviate the irritation and burning sensation felt when urinating within hours. If symptoms persist after 48 hours, or if there is blood in the urine, seek medical attention promptly.

Do I need to see a doctor, or is taking Ural® Cranberry enough?
Ural® Cranberry treats the symptoms of a mild UTI, but some infections may also require a course of antibiotics. See your doctor if your urine contains blood, or if urinating remains painful and/or too-frequent, if your urine is an abnormal or cloudy colour and/or has a strong odour.
